24. "Alcohol and
gambling"
| |
1.
Upon the revelations given from Allah, the Mighty, the Knower.
2.
There can be no doubt. |
3.
Shall I explain the reason for the rule on drink of strong intoxication and games of chance?
4.
Addiction and excess.
5.
Alcohol is no less or more dangerous than any drug of a poisoning quality.
6.
In small doses it may relax, or stimulate, it may awaken or sleepen a person.
7.
But when to excess it destroys not just a soul, but their family and kin.
8.
How many have lost everything to an addiction, that started so simply?
9.
An obsession in money and its acquisition,
10.
An obsession in acquiring more and more possessions at the risk of debt and ruin,
11.
An obsession in eating poorly made food,
12.
An obsession in over exercise,
13.
An obsession in drugs of hallucinogenic or pain relief
14.
An obsession in gambling and yes and obsession in alcohol consumption.
15.
To say one is worse than the other is likened to souls at the gates of heaven comparing their ending- all are truly dead!
16.
Listen then to your Lord. |
17.
Do not take any pleasure of life to excess.
18.
In moderation, the consumption of all things that do not degrade others, that do not inflict pain nor cruelty are allowable.
19.
This you understand. Do not then seek weasel words to say “The Lord allows my excesses, nor the Lord prevents its consumption”.
20.
You are given reason by Allah for a purpose.
21.
Your body is a gift. Choose wisely. |
22.
The Lord does not condone its abuse. |
23.
Let truth be your guide. |
