Poverty

1. Narrated by the humble servant of One Islam, whose name means al-Haqq from Allah’s Apostle in vision, saying: “All that a pure believer needs is within the True and Holy Qur’an. This is the first. Honor the sacred deed (constitution) of One Islam second. Respect these authentic Hadith of Allah's Apostle and no other is the third. Finally, honor all other sacred scripture that respects Allah as one who loves all life, peace and wisdom. Never raise false sayings and false scripture above these four things.”
2.

The Prophet said, “Do not confuse poverty with austerity. A good man seeks a life dedicated to Allah and leads an austere life free of material distractions, whereas the poor man is too distracted with the material severity of their circumstances.”

3.

The Prophet said, “Begging is a sin for Muslims, but refusing to help those in genuine need is a much greater sin.”

4.

The Prophet said, “Poverty breeds ignorance, whereas austerity sustains holiness.”

5.

The Prophet said, “Shame on those that have changed my words concerning simplicity and austerity to the promotion of poverty. If such men live in palaces and riches, seize them and hold them accountable for their evil.”

6.

The Prophet said, “Nothing saddens Allah more than people who live in filth and squalor as happily as pigs. Such ignorance is the playground of demons.”

7.

The Prophet said, “Only tyrants and evil men claim poverty a virtue; to exempt themselves from their duties to Allah and to recruit fools for wars.”
