| Abstinence | ||
| 1. | Narrated by the humble servant of One Islam, whose name means al-Haqq from Allah’s Apostle in vision, saying: “All that a pure believer needs is within the True and Holy Qur’an. This is the first. Honor the sacred deed (constitution) of One Islam second. Honor all other sacred scripture that respects Allah as one who loves all life, peace and wisdom third. Never raise false sayings and false scripture above these three things.” |

| 2. | The Prophet said, “Remember the lord whenever you retreat from society and make prayer your sleep, and hunger your food.” |
|
| 3. | The Prophet said, “Kill not your hearts with excess of eating and drinking.” | |
| 4. | The Prophet said, “In retreat for prayer, Illumine your hearts with hunger, and strive to conquer yourself using hunger and thirst. ” |
|
| 5. | The Prophet said, “The world is sweet in the heart, and green to the eye; and verily God hath brought you, after those who went before you: then look to your action, and abstain from the world of wickedness.” |
|
| 6. | The Prophet said, “The nearest to me are the abstinent, whoever they are, wherever they are.” |
|
| 7. | The Prophet said, “A keeper of the fast, who does not abandon lying and detraction, Allah cares not about his leaving off eating and drinking.” |
|
| 8. | A man once said to Allah's apostle (pbuh), "O Messenger of God, permit me to purify my urges and become a Eunuch." The Prophet said, "That person is not of me who makes another a eunuch, or becometh so himself; because the manner in which my followers become eunuchs to urges is by fasting and abstinence." The man then said "permit me O Messenger to retire from society, and to abandon the delights of the world." The Prophet said, "The retirement that becomes a follower of Allah is to live in the world and yet to sit in the corner of a mosque in expectation of prayers." |

| 9. | The Prophet said, “A man while fasting must abstain from all bad expressions and must not even resent an injury.” |
|
| 10. | The Prophet said, “There is no monasticism in Islam. True faith does not live outside of a community, but within it.” |
|
| 11. | The Prophet said, “The man I most emulate is a Muslim unencumbered; a man of small family, and little money, a performer of prayers and a perfect worshipper of Allah in private, one who is unknown, and hath enough to supply his wants, and when he dies, he will leave few women to cry for him, and fewer regrets.” |
|
| 12. | The Prophet said, “Keep fast and eat also, stay awake at night and sleep also, for verily there is a duty on you to your body, not to labor overmuch, so that you may not get ill and destroy yourselves; and verily there is a duty on you to your eyes, you must sometimes sleep and give them rest; and verily there is a duty on you to your wife, and to your visitors and guests that come to see you; you must talk to them; and nobody has kept fast who fasted always; the fast of three days in every month is equal to constant fasting: then keep three days' fast in every month.” |
