90. "The City "
  
     
1.
 No, I swear by this city -  
2.
 You who are a resident of this city -
 
3.
 And by the Creator of all things that first gave you birth,
 
4.
 The Lord verily has created man and woman within the universe:
 
5.
 Yet do they think nothing of the power He has over them?
 
6.
 The Lord says: I have witnessed vast cities and lands destroyed throughout the ages:
 
7.
 Yet do they think nothing to observe Him with respect?
 
8.
 Did not the Lord assign unto them two eyes?
  
9.
 And a tongue and two lips?  
10.
 And guide them to the parting of the mountain ways?
 
11.
 But they have not attempted the Ascent -
 
12.
 Ah, what will convey unto you what the Ascent is! -
 
13.
 It is to free a slave, to feed those in hunger,  
14.
 To protect and raise an orphan near of kin,
  
15.
 Or aid a person who is deep in misery ,  
16.
 And to be one of those who believe and urge one another to faith and perseverance,
 
17.
 and urge one another to compassion and love of all living things.
 
18.
 Their place will be a place of honor in the Hereafter.
 
19.
 But those who disbelieve the revelations of One Islam, they choose a time of Dishonor.
  
20.
 Their own hate and deliberate ignorance will be an awning over them.
