74. "The Clothed One" |
| |
1. |
O you enveloped in thy cloak,
2. |
Arise and warn! |
3. |
Thy Lord magnify, |
4. |
Thy raiment purify, |
5. |
Pollution shun! |
6. |
And show not favour in seeking wordly gain!
7. |
For the sake of thy Lord, be patient!
8. |
For when the trumpet shall sound, |
9. |
Surely that day will be a day of anguish,
10. |
Not of ease, for disbelievers. |
11. |
Leave it to the Lord to deal with those who choose to isolate themselves from the Lord,
12. |
And yet were bestowed upon them ample wealth in life,
13. |
And a family of children of their own in their company
14. |
And an easy life for them. |
15. |
Yet they desire that the Lord should give more.
16. |
No! For Behold! They have been stubborn to these revelations.
17. |
On themselves they shall impose a fearful doom in the afterlife.
18. |
For Behold! They did not consider the future when they planned their lives –
19. |
Self-destroyed in regrets and unfinished business is how they planned!
20. |
Again self-destroyed are they is how they planned! -
21. |
They looked at these words, |
22. |
Then they frowned and showed displeasure to the need for self-restraint.
23. |
Then turned he away in pride |
24. |
And said: These words are nothing else than myths from of the Sacred Tanakh (Old Testament);
25. |
These words are nothing else than the speech of mortal man.
26. |
Yet these same people shall find themselves in great anguish and regret in the afterlife
27. |
- Ah, what will convey unto you what that regret is! -
28. |
It is leaving nothing settled; it is sparing nothing for the future.
29. |
It shrivels and traps the soul. |
30. |
Surrounded by many layers of sadness.
31. |
A Reminder then unto us mortals, not by the burning sun,
32. |
No, by the Moon |
33. |
And the night when it withdraws |
34. |
And the dawn when it shines forth,
35. |
Behold! This is one of the greatest warnings
36. |
As a warning unto humanity, |
37. |
Unto him of you who will advance or hang back.
38. |
Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds;
39. |
Save those who will stand on the right hand.
40. |
In the gardens of One Heaven they will ask one another
41. |
Concerning the guilty: |
42. |
What has brought you to this anguish?
43. |
They will answer: We were not of those who prayed
44. |
Nor did we feed the helpless. |
45. |
We used to immerse ourselves in our own vanity and the mindless chatter of fame obsessed society,
46. |
And we used to deny the Day of Judgment,
47. |
Till the Inevitable came unto us.
48. |
No amount of prayers, or spiritual intervention shall except them from themselves.
49. |
For they turned away from the clear warnings,
50. |
And now are as if they were frightened livestock
51. |
Fleeing from a lion? |
52. |
No, but everyone of them desires that they should be given a clean and fresh start from Allah.
53. |
No, verily. They fear not the Hereafter.
54. |
No, verily. Behold! This is a clear warning.
55. |
For whosoever may listen to it.
56. |
And they will not listen unless Allah wills it. He is the fountain of respect. He is the fountain of Mercy.
