73. "The Mantled One" |
| |
1. |
O you wrapped up in your fine clothes!
2. |
Keep vigil the night long, except a little -
3. |
A half thereof, or abate a little thereof
4. |
Or add a little thereto - and chant the Qur'an in measure,
5. |
For we shall charge you with a word of weight.
6. |
Behold! the vigil of the night is a time when impression is more keen and speech more certain.
7. |
Behold! You have by day the business of life to attend.
8. |
So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion -
9. |
Lord of the East and the West; there is no God except Him; so choose you Him alone for your defender -
10. |
And be patient with what they say, and part from their company with a call for their safety and well being..
11. |
Leave it to the Lord to deal with the deniers, those who are lords of ease and comfort in this life; while you continue to show them respect.
12. |
Behold! With the Lord are heavy burdens and a challenges,
13. |
And spiritual nourishment that is sometimes difficult to swallow and painful to follow.
14. |
Yet, on the day when the earth and the hills rock, and the hills become a heap of running sand.
15. |
Behold! The Lord has sent unto you a messenger as witness for you, even as He sent unto Pharaoh a messenger.
16. |
But Pharaoh rebelled against the messenger, whereupon the Lord seized him with no gentle grip.
17. |
Then how, if you disbelieve, will you protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey,
18. |
The world in turmoil. His promise is to be fulfilled.
19. |
Behold! This is a Reminder. Let him who will, then, choose a way unto his Lord.
20. |
And seek forgiveness of Allah. Behold! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
