Sahih Muslim (Arabic: صحيح مسلم,) is one of the Six major collections of the hadith, oral traditions relating to the words and deeds of the Islamic Prophet Muhammed. Sunni Muslims consider it the second most authentic hadith collection, after the Sahih Bukhari.

However, Shi'a Scholars dismiss many parts of it as fabrications or untrustworthy. |

History of collection |
|
| |
The collection was assembled by Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj, also known as Imam Muslim (b 874 CE-d 817 CE). It is tradition that he travelled widely across Islamic lands including Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Egypt collecting traditions. |
|
| |
While approximately 4,000 traditions (hadith) were selected for this collection, approximately 2,200 are said to be without repetition. |
