The second most common End Times Prophecy is that prior to the arrival of a Messiah, there will be a period of great global tribulation which includes (but is not limited to): floods, earthquakes, disease, meteorite showers, famine and war.
| |
The ancient prophets of Jewish scripture respected and honored in Islam refer many times to periods of Great Tribulation including Deuteronomy 4:29-39 and Isaiah 2:1-5 for example. |
| |
Similarly, the Holy Qur'an has many references to the coming Tribulation and dedicates a whole Surah (Chapter) to The Day of Resurrection known as Qiyâmah and the tribulation that will be part of it. |
| |
Given human history has seen tremendous periods of difficulty and war over the past centuries including global plague in the 6th Century and 16th and 17th centuries and World Wars in the 20th Century generations of Muslims, Christians and Jews have believed themselves to be living in the End Times many times before.
| |
However, it is the frequency and global nature of not just war, disease but climate change that has made our current period of history such a potential candidate for the fulfillment of the End Time Prophecies concerning great tribulation.
